My design philosophy

My design philosophy

My workflow revolves around one goal, turning unclear problems into sharp, well crafted solutions without slowing down. Every tool I pick up, every habit I've built and every AI workflow I rely on exists to close the gap between an idea in my head and a design on the screen.

Design, for me, is more than creating screens, it’s about creating meaning, shaping behaviour and making complex things feel simple. I see it as a tool for empathy that bridges the gap between people, technology and ideas. What drives me is the curiosity to understand deeply, the joy of collaboration and the challenge of designing with intention.

Right now I'm deep in generative AI and what it means for design. The space is moving fast, the problems are genuinely new and there's no rulebook yet, which means I'm figuring things out as I go, getting things wrong and learning constantly. I like it that way. I'm also actively exploring AI design tools and workflows that help me think faster and spend more time on the craft that actually matters.

And when I'm not at my screen, I'm still feeding that same curiosity elsewhere. I shoot on 35mm film, make whimsical visuals and dabble in art and craft. I travel as much as I can to absorb new people, textures and ways of living. That's honestly where a lot of my taste comes from.

Beyond Pixels
and Screens

When I'm not kerning fonts and obsessing over UI flows, I'm out clicking pictures on my 35mm, making whimsical visuals or somewhere on a trail that internet very confidently told me was an easy walk.

The Way I See It

01

Documentation is part of the design

A great design means nothing if no one understands the thinking behind it. Writing down decisions, documenting components and leaving clear handoff notes is what makes your work make sense to everyone else, not just you.

02

Rough beats perfect every time

A polished mockup too early in the process is a trap. I'd much rather fill a page with messy, ugly flows and throw most of them away than spend days refining one idea before I even know if it's the right one.

03

The small stuff is never small

The empty state, the placeholder text, the default sort order. These are the things users actually see first and they're almost always the most overlooked parts of any design. Every detail is a decision, even the ones that feel small.

04

Trends pass, fundamentals don't

Every few months there's a new tool, a new trend or a new way of working that's supposed to change everything. Most of the time it doesn't. The work that holds up over time is always rooted in the basics, not whatever's popular right now.

05

AI assists, I decide

I use AI tools every day and they're genuinely useful for getting things started. But the thinking, the judgment and the final call always stay with me. The interesting work is still mine to do. AI speeds up the process, it doesn't replace the designer.
